Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My brother and I live in my fathers condo. He's lived there for 3 years and Ive lived there for the last 7 months. My father lived there also, but recently decided to move to a retirement communiuty and has put the house up for sale. Now our sister is trying to forcibly evict us without using the court system. She has stated that if we are not out by the end of the month she will put our possesions in storage and change the locks.

We need to ensure that we don't get locked out in the first place because we haven't found another place to live and getting locked out would put us on the street. I don't have alot of faith that if we call the police they'll do anything, Is there any way to prevent this illegal eviction before it happens or during the process of them removing our possesions and changing the locks.

Unless you have been paying rent, you have no legal right to remain in the unit. From a legal standpoint you are trespassers There is nothing illegal about removing you.
