Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

evicted

i was wrongfully evicted from my house. I only moved into this place in December 2007. I didn't have electricity in half of my house for 1 and a half months. Called the landlord several times that month and got no response. also that month, my toilet didn't work, so every time I had to flush, I had to fill up a bucket of water in my tub, to flush the toilet. finally the landlords came by to collect rent. they said they never received any messages. therefore they would not compromise with the rent. I offered half the rent. because of all the inconveince, they said ''No'' and I had to move, anyways I went to court this morning and she ''Won'' I owe her lots of money. The judge didn't want to here any of my side. Including a vialation on my house and the 3 apt made out of the attic and they also are renting those out . It's a very bad violation, unsafe. i need to know if I could appeal this eviction and be granded all the monies I gave them towards the rent. They willfully rented this place , knowing it had no permits and safety code approvals. I don't think it's fair that Now I will have this eviction following me for the next 5 years.

Re: evicted

Actually, the eviction lasts longer than five years.

Why are you asking for advice and help now, when it is too late?

Assuming all you state is true, you might have a chance on appeal, but appeals are expensive.

My advice is to forget it, move on, and next time you have legal problems talk to a lawyer first.
