Filing a Motion to Continue Trial

have a court date pending for unlawful detainer, Mom's going into the hospital and I need a 2week delay. Is there specific verbage for this and do I need to cite Points and Authorities in support of? Need ans fast court date 8/23

You would need to file an ex parte application complete with declaration for the extension, give appropriate notice, and appear in court to explain if necessary.
