Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

One month after I moved into a house with a 6 month written lease (with a verbal agreement that I would be living there for at least a coupe of years) the owner told me he's selling the house. Not wanting to live in an unpacked house with an uncertain future I saved my money until I was able to afford a more stable living situation. Now the owner is keepingn my $900 deposit because I violated the lease. Do I have a chance of getting this back in small claims court?

It doesn't sounds like you have any valid reasons to breach the lease, so the answer is no.

If you wanted guarantees, you should have asked for a longer lease.
