Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I had rented a storage unit from this company for a good 5 yrs or more. I had one unit but then moved to a bigger unit at the same storage facility. I asked for a pull up door which they provided me with which is the door I always used to get into my unit. I went to my storage unit the other day unlocked my lock from the pull up door and realized that some of things had been stolen. when I went to spot where they had taken things out , I then realized that there was a door leading into my storage. the door had a lock on it and the lock was locked but you could clearly tell that there is where they went in at. I had no knowledge of this other door leading into my storage unit. I never put a lock on any door other than the pull up door. the storage facility claims to have 24 survelliance but wouldn't agree to even checking their tapes and my unit was the only unit broke into. I asked for a copy of my rental agreement and the manager told me that she cant do that. can she refuse to give me a copy of a rental agreement?

Start by filling a police report as a crime has been committed. Also, send a certified letter to the storage people confirming that you have reported the theft and have asked to review the surveillance tapes as well as for the copy of the rental agreement which they refused. Also demand they preserve the surveillance tapes in the letter. Good luck.
