Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am a renter in a condo community. I signed when I move in that I would abide by the rules of the HOA. Now, they have changed some of those rules without my concent as I have no vote. Do I have to abide by those rules?

Thanks

Yes, but you could lobby your landlord to push to have the rules adjusted so that they favor whatever it is you dislike at the moment, as you're probably a good tenant.

You will have to follow the new rules. As a renter, it is not a surprise that you did not have a vote; the voting is usually only reserved for owners. This is why Attorney Cohen suggested that you talk to your landlord. As a prior board member on a HOA board, I can tell you that it is an uphill battle, but may still be worth battling. You will probably wind up having to get several owners to sign a petition before you get any board recognition. Good Luck!
