Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

attorney won't release settlement

I had an attorney on contingency. He should have kept 33.3 and release the remainder to me. The settlement was much smaller than had been expected. Two months later now he won't take my calls nor release the remainder of the settlement to me. What can be done in this situation.

My best guess is that something is missing from your statement.

Send him a certified letter that you will complain to the State Bar within 7 days, if you do not hear from him. Then, contact the State Bar.
