If you want to know how much it will cost you - the easiest and most accurate way is to call the people that have it and ask them. Start with the police. If it was just towed from the scene it is probably at a tow yard (as opposed to being held by the police for evidence).

Tow companies have their own rates. You will likely be charged towing fees, impound and/or hook up fees and daily storage fees. You may also have to pay for any existing tickets or issues related to the car (e.g., no registration).

If you do not know where your car is - call any police station and ask where your car is being held.

Good luck

Ms. Wilks is correct - tow companies have their own rates. For example, a towing company in Orange County recently charged $310 for the towing fee, plus $35 per day for storage. If your car remains in the impound lot for a period of time, it may be sold or scrapped to cover the towing and storage costs, and the impound lot may come after you for the balance owed, if any. So, it is best to do everything in your power to get your car out as soon as possible.
