Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
In 2011 by court order handled through an attorney I was granted sole ownership of my husband and my joint ownership residence. He was in a nursing home and died a few months later. If I decide to now sell the house, which we purchased in 1974, would I get a stepped up basis for value of the home now?

That depends entirely on what the proceeding was in which the court order was obtained, and what the order said.
