Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

my died recently passed away and left no will. he owns land, how do I get it in my name so I can take care of taxes, etc.

Any property in his name has to be 'probated' to get it into your name. If there is a small estate, it can be done fairly easily. Contact a wills and probate attorney in your area. Call your local Lawyer Referral Service if you can't find one through friends. I'd do it if his residence was in SoCal.
