Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

i am currently an onsite apartment manager in hollywood, all my utilities and rent is payed for by the company with no compensation. I have been with the company for almost 4 years now. I just got off the phone with the management company and they told me after the housing inspection of the building they need to renovate the building and make my bedroom a rec. room and turn my 1 bedroom into a studio. I have 2 kids and a husband, we cant possibly stay in a studio. So she offered me a apt. in downtown which I do not want and a apt. in the valley that rents for $1124 a month, they would do a rent credit for me every month making my rent about $900 and I would have to pay my own utilities. These are my only 2 options, and they want an answer by tomorrow and will need me out in about 2 weeks. Please tell me if this is legal and if not what options do I have? Thank You

There is so much that is illegal about this I'm not sure where to start, and it is mostly things you aren't even thinking of. You have a wage and hour claim for four years of back pay! Onsite managers must be paid at least minimum wage, and only about 56 hours/month can be paid in rent credit. The rest must be paid in cash. You also have special rights under the Los Angeles rent control laws. You should contact the Rent Board about the renovation and eviction issues, and the Labor Commission about your wages.
