Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I recently sold my home. After the final walkthrough with the new owners, while moving the last of my belongings, I put a 10 foot long scratch in the bamboo floor which covers less than a quarter of the floor. The new homeowner is threatening legal action unless I send him a check for the estimate they set up. I, in turn had my own estimate done and was willing to replace their floor and not simply repair it. What legal recourse do I have?

They are not entitled to anything more than the lowest cost to put the floor back in the condition it was as of final walk through. If you have a lower cost to yield that result, either by repair or replacement, that is all they could legally recover if they took legal action.
