Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

State Farm insurance has informed me in writing that they require verification from roofing co.that the roof on my residential residence is sound or will have repairs made if necessary Tenant informs me that they have no problems such as a leak etc and no insurance rep. has been on the property . However has a dip or bow above the garage since purchased some 12 years ago. Also the roof has shingles over a shake composition which may not be legal Cost of reroofing is $6800 and I have no money or savings to speak of. So I am asking what recourse do I have ?

None.

eYou will have to comply with insurance company requirements if you want insurance. Period. That means you will have to pay a roofer to certify the roof. If no one will do that without substantial expensive work to the roof, look for other companies to insure, but don't be surprised if they all have the same requirments.
