Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My wife and I; aged 67 and 68 respectively have lived in our home for over 25 years. The court has just directed the sale of this property to satisfy a credit card debt of $ 8,000 that was incurred over 12 years ago. What can I do, if anything, to defend against this judgement?

For a credit card judgment to get all the way to a forced sale of property, a lot must have gone on before now. Why would you let your house be at risk for such a small amount? Pay the judgment. Contact the judgment creditor and work out a payment plan. File bankruptcy. You have a lot of options. Go see an attorney that handles debt collection and/bankruptcy. Or do nothing and lose your house.
