The driver of the car committed a criminal act of hit & run, regardless of who was at fault for the collision. If the bicyclist sustained injuries, the hit & run charge could be considered a felony. If you were the driver of the car and there were witnesses who were able to capture your license plate number, you will likely be contacted by a detective in person or by letter requesting a statement from you, assuming you're the registered owner of the vehicle. If you are not, the registered owner will receive this contact. Regardless, assuming you are the driver and not the bicyclist, you should consult with a criminal defense attorney immediately and refrain from answering any questions from the police.
