Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

car accident

I had an accident a little over a year ago.It was a hit and run.The cops got the car a few blocks away and found the car by itself. The cops made the report and that was it. I went to therapy but my truck hasn't been fixed. The police sent me the report but i dont know if the owner had insurance.I dont think the car had been reported stolen. What can i do? Can i sue the owner of the car for my damages and bills? Or is there anything else i can do? Thank You.

Re: car accident

Did you file the SR-1 as required by DMV? If so, you can send an SR-19 and that will get you the other party's insurance information. If you did not, you may have to either pay a service to get the information or file a lawsuit and obtain the information in "discovery."
