Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Was involved in a MVC on a freeway in California. Was driving a family members vehicle that I was unaware is actually uninsured. So being possibly at fault with no insurance what kind of legal action will I face? Cop took report but no tickets have been issued yet. No damage to my vehicle minor dent to rear bumper of other persons vehicle, accident happened at about 10-15mph

You could be cited to appear in court to face an infraction for not having insurance at the time of the collision. The other citation for any section that was the cause of the collision may not be filed since the officer didn't witness the events.

Getting insurance, even though it won't pay for the damage caused as a result of his collision, may help you out in traffic court in either getting the fines reduced or perhaps even dismissed.

You could also be sued for the damages including medical bills and any claimed pain and suffering.
