Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Hello there...Me and my boyfriend were parked by the blue box when a cop (who had stopped us several times) approaced us. He asked about our tinted windows, and ask my boyfriend for his dl, which he doesnt have one. I tried to explain the cop that we had just switch seats because my son was there and just in case he had to move the car. He still gave my boyfriend a ticket. Is there anything we can do about it? Can we fight that in court and win?

As a general rule best approach in cases like this is for him to get a driver's license and ask the court to reduce the charge to driving without a valid driver's license.
