on a durable power of attorney toes the agent I appoint need to be at the notary when I have my signature notarized?

No. Your signature is being acknowledged by you before the Notary, not your agent's signature.

No. I have seen some forms where the agent signs agreeing that he understands all the responsibilities, but it is not required.
