Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My mother recently passed away, leaving no assets. At the time of her death, a living trust existed but the trust was empty, everything in it had been transferred out, sold, gifted, etc., prior to death. Now that she's been gone for 6 months and any debts owed have been settled or forgiven, its it necessary to formally dissolve the trust? Thank you.

If the trust has no assets, it really does not exist. Normally it would have no separate taxpayer ID number. THere is nothing to formally dissolve.
