What is the statute of limitation for filing a law suit contesting an unclaimed property awarded to someone else by the State 9 years ago.

Whatever it is, it is long past. Which limitations period applies depends on the cause of action. I'm not sure even what cause of action you would have to contest such a state action. I'm not even sure you can. You would probably have to proceed against the person who claimed the property but was not the rightful owner. That would be a conversion or replevin case. I think the limitations on that would be 3 years, might be two, wouldn't be more than four. With the exception of a few obscure causes of action, the longest statute of limitations is four years.
