Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I was supposed to file a completed Inventory of Assets with the Superior Court of San Bernardino Probate by today. I was not able to file a completed form however because I failed to give the probate referee enough time to respond with his appraisal. I filed a "Partial no. 1" inventory today and intend to file the Final as soon as I hear back from the referee. I wish to file a declaration to explain why I have failed to meet this deadline. Any suggestions on how I would word that or key phrases that I should use would be greatly appreciated.
