Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

How long should a workman's comp case take? The reason I ask is because my friend has a case that has been drawn out for 9 years now and we think the lawyer might be behind why its taking so long as to justify him making more money on the case

Sadly, 9 years is not unreasonable now. Workers Comp laws keep changing every two years and the attorneys have to 'start over' with new medical reports when the wackjobs in Sacramento try to 'fix' the Workers Compensation Act of the California Labor Code. Now, the 'Agreed" physician can write that the injured work must absolutely, positively have a study or a procedure or a surgery before being labeled as 'finished' (Maximum Medical Improvement), then the treating physician has to request that procedure, but then the adjuster gets to deny that procedure and you appeal that denial for 10 months... insane. Pretty soon, somebody near-and-dear to a governor or a State Senator will die from lack of treatment and the Labor Code will be revised again, ... but since 2006, it's been torture for injured workers.
