Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

I would like to record my manager during a conversation due to workers comp and humans resources. If I let him know I am doing so is that legal in California?

Ive looked through this site for 2 hours and didnt find any similar posts from my state.

Yes, it is legal. If you are on a telephone, you must tell the person before taping. If you are in public, which this meeting might qualify as being, you may not have to tell him, but he wil be very upset later if he finds out. Give a reasonable excuse as to why you want to tape it. You are not good at making notes and speaking at the same time, your spouse wants to knopw exactly what was said, etc. The manager may refuse to take part in the meeting.
