Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Workers Compensation insurer is offering a medical reserve of $38873. to be used for future medical expenses for 2010 knee injury incurred in California. This money is to be placed in an interest bearing savings account by me. My question is, am I obligated to use these funds only for medical expenses related to my injury or may i use these funds for other purposes?

The fund you're referring to is called a Medicare Set Aside, earmarked to only pay for your work-related knee injury. If you use that money for a different purpose, you place yourself at risk of losing some of your Medicare benefits.

Good luck.
