Legal Question in Consumer Law in Colorado

I began renting a room a week before this incident. To this day I've only stayed there 3 nights. And those nights he hassled me about noise when I wasn't making any noise one time I just went to get a glass of ice from the kitchen. I tried to explain to him that just because he can hear it doesn't mean it's noise. There is a difference between noise and sound. Anyway I knew it wasn't going to work.

I don't have a vehicle. I rented a uhaul to move in and realized that there wasn't enough space so a shelf and a milk crate full of metal antiques had to go back to my storage. So I explained that I would move them as soon as I coordinated a way to transport them. A couple days later when I was set to take them to storage I couldn't find the milk crate. The next day I texted him and asked where it was. He texted back that he put them out back past the fence. Out back past the fence is in the alley by the trash cans. I got a ride home right away. And not only was it gone but my shelfbwas in the alley and my door mirror was in the trash can.

The value of the contents of the crate was at least $500. There was a cast iron Aunt Jemima that was worth ofer a hundred dollars on its own and I had been collecting that stuff for years.

So I'm sure he has committed a crime but is it theft, or vandalism? I need to know so I can compel him to pay for it without getting the court involved which would be a last resort

You cannot compel him to pay without taking him to court. He doesn't sound like the sort of person who will simply agree to pay you.

You can report the incident to the police, but they probably will not want to get involved. This sounds like an issue that is best addressed in small claims court.
