Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Colorado

Being taken advantage of by a smooth talker

About 8 mo. ago I was called by a co. that sells websites. I was stupid enough to believe them. The cost was $6500. I was given 3 days to think about it, when the 3 days were up I tried and tried to get in touch with them when I finally did we went round and round, they would not take no for an answer. At this time there was this one guy (from the same co.) that was really good and he convinced me to send him $2,200 to still be in the business and make "tons" of money. Well believeing him I sent him the check for $2,200. He cashed it. During this time the one co. was bought out by another company that aslo sells websites. He kept stringing me along month after month telling me soon he'll let me know what is going on. Well he left that company and went to another website company (this started in January of 1999)selling websites. I have e-mailed him numerous times and left phone messages but he never returns any calls. He will leave me an e-mail message once in awhile saying something like "I'll call you soon". I have told him so many times I want my money back. What do I do? Is there any way I can get my money back?

Feeling very stupid!

Re: Being taken advantage of by a smooth talker

Stop feeling stupid; you happened to meet a professional

con artist of some sort, it seems, and you were taken. Get

over the embarassment and go report it to the police, the DA,

or the state's attorney general (or whatever such a person is

called in your state). They have the resources to

prosecute and possibly get your money back for you.

Worse comes to worse, you could bring a civil suit on your own,

but it's not nearly as good an option.
