Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado
ve been working with a crimminal attorney on a sexual assult case for 10 monrhs. And i just recivwd an email that he can no longer represent me because is is merging with another law firm, which creates a conflict of interest, because there is a potential witness working for the law firm my attorney is merging with. This notice came 5 days before i have a court appearance. If i hire another attorney, i have to pay all over again to have someone become familiar with my case. Do i have any legal rights and can i get some of my money back. My attorney knew of this conflict of interest a month before he notified me, and i was charged for his time during this time....to me this is very unethical... Please help..

Read the legal services agreement (contract) you have with your attorney. It will answer most of those questions, especially with regard to money.
And it would be far more unethical for your attorney to continue in the face of a conflict of interest.
