Resort Injuries

whether Skiing and Snowboarding resorts are held liable for head or spine injuries of the participants while using their facilities?

Usually not. The lift tickets all contain waivers and releases from liability for these events. In the end, though, it would depend on the law of the state where the incident ocurred, so check with a lawyer there.

For the most part, individuals participating in these types of activities assume the risks involved or inherent to them. Hurling yourself down a mountain naturally entails some risk and the possibility of injury. There are some rare cases, but that depends upon the individual facts of the case.
