Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

I was awarded a debt in my divorce however no collection effort was ever made. Then out if the blue my ex sends me a letter that they paid the debt by making a settlement agreement with the collector. Do I have to pay them back?

I think I would need some more info to correctly answer. Did you ex have your authority to make that deal? Did your ex pay? Does your separation agreement provide for a situation like this? If none of the above, I wouldn't pay, but at the same time don't leave yourself exposed. If you are not complying with a court order, and it hurts your ex somehow, you could end up in court again on a contempt citation. Talk to your ex about it and see if you can agree to something.
