Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Colorado

Home

I recently bought a newly built home and after the signing we were told first of all about a water bill deliquency we had to pay. Second there are some things wrong and cannot locate builder. The realestate agent does not know how to fine the builder either.

I have tried phone numbers I had and get no response. How can we resolve this? The only information I have on the builder is a social security number.

Re: Home

If the builder owned the lot while building the house, you could get an address from the tax records and put "forwarding information requested" on the envelope. That will get you any forwarding address when you mail your demand letter. Who did you buy the house from? The real estate agent should know that. Track back through the Real estate records. There should have been a building permit, check with municipal or county authorities. You may end up having to sue but if the builder's disappeared that fast he may not have much to satisfy a judgement. Check with an attorney to see if you have any recourse against the real estate agent for representations made.
