finding public record of my fathers estate

my father passed away in january was told should be able to find notice to creditors in newspaper,being as I live in another state went through the archives in the paper where he lived and foun no notice from jan. to mar.also checked for obituary and that isnt showing now either,is there a site I can go to for free to do a record search or a way to do this cant get to conn. at this time to get paper work?

There would be no obit nor notice to creditors unless someone opened upan estate for him. Was that done by you? by anyone?
