Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

I left my husband who said he was going back to Chile to live. He did not leave. He will not answer his phone and I am concerned that if something happens to him, he is 78, that I will be held financially responsible. I also worry that if I get sick, he will make decisions if I am not able.

You need to consult with an attorney who is qualified in not only divorce/family law but elder law as well. There are several options such as a legal separation which would include a court order that you are not responsible for his medical bills. (or a divorce) You also need to make out a designation of a health care agent and maybe a power of attorney so he is not the one to make your decisions. These are all matters that can be handled by a competent attorney who knows this area of the law.
