Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

My father has threatened to call the police to throw me out of the house we rent because I refused to throw away my possessions that I have packed up to take with me when I move out. Can he do this?

No, the police cannot throw you out. There are many procedural aspects to a proper eviction, such as serving a Notice to Quit, filing a summary process action in housing court, and obtaining an order of execution from a housing court. Once that order is obtained, a state marshal may come and throw you out, however the landlord must put any possessions found in the home into storage for a period of at least 30 days.
