Legal Question in Consumer Law in Delaware

lawyers' fee

my friends lawyer is charging him a set fee to represent him in dui case. it is my friends second dui in 5 years and his lawyer is charging him $4,000.00 to represent him. isnt this price a little ridiculous? other well known lawyers in the area would charge anywhere from 900.00 to 1,500.00. all he did was go before the prosecutor and plea bargain for my friend. where upon my friend accepted the first offenders program. now it seems that my friend who is a carpenter is permantly indebted to this lawyer, to provide carpentry work on his home in exchange for the 4,000.00 fee that he cant possibly pay. what is your opinion on this high fee.

Re: lawyers' fee

in short, the fee is not unreasonably high. Your friend, if really concerned about the fee could have asked several different attorneys what the fee was and gone with the cheapest. it appears that this did not happen. The easiest way to avoid a high lawyer's fee associated with DUI is to chose not to drive after drinking alcoholic beverages.
