How can I find out if my former attorney had Professional Liability Insurance (Legal Malpractice Insurance)and the terms of any such coverages?

DC does not have any reporting requirement for legal malpractice insurance, so the only way to find out is to ask or to assert a claim. If the lawyer is also licensed in VA, the Va. State Bar (www.vsb.org) requires reporting of coverage, although I don't think they require the policy limits to be disclosed.
