Legal Question in Disability Law in Florida

Termination for excessive absence due to illness

My daughter was recently diagnosed w/pilonidal cyst. Missed 1 week of work (w/doctor's note) before trip to emergency room and surgery which required another week missed of work (with doctor's note). This condition makes it impossible for her to sit which is required at her job working as a data entry clerk. After surgery she was back to work for 1 week, on a pre-scheduled vacation the next and now the cyst has returned or was not entirely removed. After her last experience she immediately called her doctor, went for visit @ lunch hour, made appt. for Friday to lance but the next day was in excruciating pain again. Doctor is to perform procedure in office today, but her job has been threatened due to excessive time lost. Can they fire you for being truly ill?

Before you spend time and money consulting an attorney you may want to get your daughter a a book titled Your Rights In the Workplace by Nolo

Press the leading publisher of self help law books. It's one of the best

books for the general public that I've seen covering employee's rights in

the workplace in an easy to read and understand format. It can help explain

to you what the law is regarding employment discrimination and what you have

to prove to be successful in court. It can help you determine whether this

is worth pursuing or not. It can be found here:
