Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Organization Dress code policy

Original ques: We currently updated our dress code policy indicating that spagetti straps can not be worn whether visible or not. My questions is whether we are in our rights to ask en employee to remove a jacket or coat because we suspect they are wearing a spagetti strapped dress or top?

For the record, I am opposed of asking an employee to take off their jackets however I need something to back up my resistance to that current process. Are there any possible legal ramifications?

Re: Organization Dress code policy

Probably not, though I suppose you'd have a very weak case that, since it only applies to women, it constitutes sexual discrimination. However, clothing requirements have always been upheld by the courts, and a court would probably allow a reasonable inspection to see if clothing requirements are being met.
