i did repair work at this gentlemans house total bill was $1200.00 he mailed check for $750.00 and marked it paid in full wont return my callsif i cash check do i stll have any legal recourse

He doesn't get to pay you $750 and call it even. If you want the $1200, don't cash the check. Send it back to him and tell him this is unacceptable, and demand the full $1200. If that's what you want. If you are willing to take the $750 and call it a day, then take the $750 and understand that's it. You will have no legal recourse after that.
