Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

On July 30th we gave a contractor $1,100 to start a small job .He gave us a verbal start date never showed up won't return emails or phone calls. We complained to the BBB they still have him as A+ rating no help. We complained to seniors vs crime they tried to call .they said if he doesn't call back they will email .what are we to do everybody wants to give this guy more time. taking him to small claims court and more money is not the answer he still might not pay. thanks if you can help

This is the 2d time you've posted the same question. You might try contacting your local state Attorney or the Florida State Attorney's Office to see if there's a complaint you can lodge agsint him because he allegedly took advantage of a senior citizen. However, short of exercising certain options you may gain as a judgment creditor (which means you have to take him to court, prevail, and he has to have property that you can legally take), there's nothing else that forces him to pay. Even if you had a criminal case against him, there's nothing in the law that can force him to write you a check.

You appear to have already made administrative complaints. Accordingly, it may be time to consider meeting with a lawyer. In simplest terms, there are really only two options, you can negotiate with him (either on your own or through an attorney), or you can sue. As the other attorney noted, however, you still ultimately may or may not get paid.
