Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

company vanishes

I have a question my husband and I were trying to find a place to rent.We started looking through the paper every weekend and found none in our price range .One day we came across this ad for a reasonable price we called it.Iit was a company that helped you find rental property and it was a one time fee of 89.00.My husband and i gave them the fee and we recieved a list of properties to call and view that were all pretty reasonable.we never could get a hold of everyone at the properties.I called the company back and they assured me the were legite and to keep trying. The company also sent us 2 updates and they were dead end roads.so i took the contract that they gave us from the start and made copies and demanded a refund.Tthe thing is its been 15 days no response and I rode by the office they were located and its for lease.the numbers I have are no answers.Ii did email them today.I know I may have been taken for 89.00 but I would like to know what I could do what grounds do I have for action .thank you.

I would suggest that you contact your local Office of Consumer Affairs. Check the municipal and county listings in your local telephone book. Most areas in the State of Florida have an office of this sort. There is no fee and you may get some results.

Alternatively, check with the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture. They have a consumer affairs department which may be able to help you or guide you. You may also file a claim in your small claims court but you have to be able to find the company to serve it.
