Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I am being foreclosed by my hoa, but the problem here was that I accepted the repayment agreement that the association offered but I did not know that I needed the agreement signed. The paralegal never told me that and the other thing it was not conveyed to me was the fact that I needed to pay the lawyers office and not the association directly.

The paralegal left the lawyers office and nobody new about the agreement ant they took me to court. On the process I incurred more than $1000 in fees.

When I found out, I wanted info. Yesterday he told me after almost 2 weeks talking to me that every piece of information they provide me, is being charged. Today I got another payoff with another $1000.

Is that practice common? Is it legal? I can't afford a lawyer, so what else can I do to defend myself?

Is what practice common? Is what legal? Offer them the same terms - same amount per month. This time get it signed and make the payments.
