Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Grand Theft due to Repossesion

My friend is in jail. His SUV is somewhere in Oklahoma. I have tried to help the finance company locate the vehicle. MY friend assumes that the vehicle had been towed from the hotel he was staying at during his visit. The hotel is not aware of it being picked up. The finance company is saying that if they can't find his vehicle they will charge him with grand theft.

You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

What is your question? Your friend has an obligation to return the vehicle. If he does not, he may get charged criminally or in civil court or both. Someone needs to check with the officials in Oklahoma to determine what happened to the car and obtain it or he will be held responsible for its value.
