Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Statute of limitations

I am being sued for a credit card debt that was last paid on Aug of 2002. They have added a higher principle, interest, charges such as court costs and lawyer fees. Am I obligated to make this payment? The lawyer suing us said the sol for this debt is 5 years. I don't believe it to be. Thank you.
