Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

im 19 years old and just got arrested for my first time ever for retail theft less than $100 on my name when i look it up on the county court website it says misdemeanor of less than $300. i have no record and have never been in trouble before. i cant afford an attorney will i get a public defender? and do you think i will get jail time? i just moved to Florida and this is where it happened. I'm scared. Also i got bonded out through a bails bonds man who the officers told me to call and he has not answered the phone to find out my court date. i was arrested july 2 now its july 6. i also called the clerk court house and was not able to get through to that either
