Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Adjudication Withheld versus Conviction for employment purposes

I recieved an ''Ajudication Withheld'' for a petty theft charge 6 years ago. I had to pay a minial $65 court charge, no probation, etc. I was told by the judge that this was not a conviction. I have applied for and have pending employment with an airline. They took my prints, etc. They asked to list convictions of 5 years, etc. Either way I selected no, as usual because I was told, I was not convicted. Confused and terrified, because I really need this job. Please help

Re: Adjudication Withheld versus Conviction for employment purposes

A withholding of adjudication is technically not a "conviction" but it will show up as a case on your record. You may be eligible to have this record sealed which would prevent most entitites from obtaining the record irrespective of how long ago it was. You can visit our web site, www.leifertlaw.com, to learn more about the qualifications for sealing your record. The end result of sealing your record would allow you tp treat the case as if it never happened and most employers would not have access to the case. The process can take up to six months.
