Good person in a bad situation

i was arrested for possession of a single xanac pill in my home. the officer

entered my home without permission and searched my premises. he uncovered

a can with a single pill inside. the door was open when he entered and had his

gun drawn. i have to appear in court in one week for an arraignment but do not

have counsel.. the attorney that i spoke to wants upwards of 10,000 dollars to

file a motion to supress..i dont have that kind of money but i dont want to go to

jail over this ridiculous charge. i have no prior record and am an upstanding

citizen in my community. WHAT DO I DO??

Two things:

1. I can't tell you that there is motion to suppress that can be filed. Based on what you have said it sounds to me that there would be a clkear motion to suppress but really you need to see what the allegations are by the police in the probable cause affidavit.

1. The fee an attorney may charge may be excessive or maybe not, I like to think about it like this Roy Black is not going to charge the same amount for a misdemeanor as another attorney might.

In the end your best bet is to get an attorney working on your case as soon as possible, time is on a defendant's side only after the defense is ready for trial. You can contact me if you have additional questions.
