Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Grand theft and home invastion

My brother was arrested in November 05 for Grand Theft and Home invasion. If I am not mistaken the property stolen was less than $500. The only court matters that have taken place are bond hearings and case management. There was one other co-defendent who is not in jail, but my brother is and the victims have not shown up to deposition on two occasions. Today May 8,2006 my brother went to court again for the case management and a bond hearing they will not drop the bond and they are not going to proceed with court until July. Why are they still holding my brother without a case and no evidence. The victims of the crime will not even show up for depostion. We do not have a lawyer just the one assigned to him by the state. What do I do?

Thank you

Re: Grand theft and home invastion

There is nothing really you can do. You can hire a lawyer or let the public defender go to trial in the case when he is ready.
