Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Florida

Employment Laws

I am an employ of a small company. I was hired with the understanding that I would be moved to a data entry position when on opened. I have just completed my probationary status.

A data entry position opened and was given to the daughter of a supervisor that had worked there previously for 2 weeks and again for 2 hours. I live in Florida and was told by an attorney that the owner can hire who he wants and even though I am more qualified because Florida is an at will state there are no laws to protect me. Is this true?
