Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

DUI in Florida but I live Virginia

My boyfriend got a DUI in Floriday (Key West) while we were on vacation. He was driving a scooter. They didn't do a breathalyzer or test his blood. He also didn't get a written citation, although they took him to jail. It's been over 8 months and the case has not gone to trial. He hired a lawyer in FL but may need to go back to FL for trial in September. He has a DUI from 99 in VA. How will this affect his VA license. If he's convicted could he serve his community service in VA?

Re: DUI in Florida but I live Virginia

A second DUI conviction within 10 years(whether in Virginia or elsewhere)could result in the suspension of your boyfriend's Virginia license.

(See 46.2-391 of the Virginia Traffic Code.)Virginia DMV officials, obviously, would first have to be notified and whether the Commonwealth is part of the state information sharing compact which includes Florida, I have no information on.

Whether your boyfriend would be permitted to serve his community service(if such be ordered)in the Commonwealth, would be up to the Florida office which is charged with supervising his probation.
